For the fourth time, families from all over Georgia and the South will gather for the MEGA Family Project’s 4th Annual Family Weekend - a weekend of fun, adventure, and learning. MEGA’s 4th Annual Family Weekend will provide a safe and fun space for lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender couples, parents, their children, and our friends and family to gather on a beautiful beach destination. It is an idyllic opportunity for our children to meet other children with LGBT parents, and for parents to meet other parents and share experiences. The weekend will be filled with opportunities to celebrate LGBT families and for families to make connections with other families like theirs.
MEGA Members who have paid their 2009 dues will get a reduced registration rate!

Thursday, July 23rd
Group Dinner at Marlin Monroe's Restaurant--6pm
Pool Party at Brass Rail Condominiums--8pm
Friday, July 24th
Registration, MEGA Hospitality Suite (Brass Rail)--4 to 10pm
Group Dinner, Fannie's On the Beach-- 5:30 to 8pm
Pajama Party Story Time, MEGA Hospitality Suite (Brass Rail)--7:15 to 8pm
Ice Cream Party (Brass Rail Poolside) -- 6:45 to 8:15pm
Kickoff Pool Party (Brass Rail Pool) -- 8 to 10pm
Saturday, July 25th
MEGA Beach Base Camp & Toddler Pools (behind Ocean Plaza hotel), 8:30 to 3:30
Sandcastle Contest, 9:30 to 11:30am
Lunch on your own!
Meet on the Beach Social/Snack Time (MEGA Beach Tent)--1:30pm
Kid's Program/Pizza Dinner(8-18 year olds)-- 4 to 6:30pm

This year we have both the Family Dance and the Family Picnic open to people who have not registered for the MEGA Family Vacation.
The Family Dance alone is $8 Per Person.
The Family Picnic alone is $10 Per Person.
If you want to attend both the Family Dance and the Family Picnic it is $15 Per Person.

About Tybee Island:
Located 18 miles east of Savannah, this small barrier island boasts a wide, 3-mile long beach that's backed by sea oat-covered sand dunes and is perfect for sunbathing, people-watching and frolicking in the waves of the Atlantic Ocean. The island's south-end pier and pavilion is a splendid venue for strolling above the ocean and listening to the music of the live bands.
Accomodation Tips:
Families find their own housing and pay for their own food outside of our scheduled cookout. Depending on your family's budget, you can stay at Brass Rail Condominiums (all units are 3 bedroom) or Ocean Plaza Beach Resort (both of these places will be very conveninet to the group gatherings). Or you can choose to stay at a Bed & Breakfast, rent a house or condo, or go camping at the local campground (tent or rv). July is high season in Tybee, so rooms are going fast! If you reserve a space early, you can actually stay at a house or condo cheaper than a hotel.
There are some excellent deals if you want to go in with some other families and stay at a bigger house. Sometime it is the same rate to stay a week as it is for 3 days.
